A guy came in a few weeks ago wearing a windbreaker his dad wore in 1991. Teal, purple, and a shade of pink that does not exist anymore. Three people asked him where he got it. He said the closet. Then he ordered two Classic Pearl Milk Teas and left, and we stood there thinking that jacket deserved a discount.
So here it is. On Saturday, September 19, wear a retro outfit into our bubble tea store in Georgetown, Texas and get buy one, get one 50% off on bubble tea. Order two drinks, the second one is half price. No coupon, no code, no sign-up. Just the outfit.
We are open 10am to 10pm that day.
What counts as a retro outfit
This is the question everybody asks first, so let's settle it. We are not running a costume contest and nobody behind the counter is grading you.
Here is the honest answer: if it looks like it came from another decade, it counts. A windbreaker. Mom jeans. A scrunchie. Corduroy. A band tee that is older than you are. High-waisted anything. Round sunglasses. A varsity jacket. Big hoops. Overalls. Denim on denim. A flannel tied around your waist.
Thrift store finds count. Your parents' closet counts. Something you already own that just happens to be old counts. One good piece is enough. You do not need a full look.
If you show up in a plain t-shirt and jeans, we will probably still let it slide, because we are a bubble tea shop and not the fashion police. But bring one fun thing. The whole point is that the shop looks good on a Saturday.
How the buy one get one deal works
Simple version: order two drinks in the same order, and the cheaper one comes off at half price.
Works on any bubble tea on our menu, all 37 of them
Works on any size and any topping
One outfit, one deal. Each person wearing a retro outfit gets one buy one get one
In store only, so this is a walk-in deal, not a delivery app deal
Runs all day Saturday, September 19, 10am to 10pm
Bring a friend and you both order your own pair. Or order two for yourself, which honestly is what half of Georgetown does on a Saturday anyway.
The best time to come on Saturday
We open at 10am and that first stretch is the calm one. From 10 to about noon you walk in, order, and sit down without waiting.
The busy window is 2pm to 6pm, which is the standard Saturday rush for bubble tea in Georgetown, Texas. Wolf Ranch Town Center fills up on Saturday afternoons, and that is also when people come over after shopping or after the farmers market on the Square. If you want photos of your outfit without twelve people in the background, come early.
Evening picks back up around 7pm, and it stays lively until we close at 10pm.
Parking is easier on the University Avenue side of the center than near the anchor stores. Coming down I-35, take the University Ave exit and we are a couple of minutes west.
New to bubble tea? Start here
A retro deal pulls in a lot of first-timers, so a few pointers from behind the counter.
Sugar comes at 0%, 30%, 50%, 70%, or 100%. Most new drinkers are happiest at 50%. Ice is your call too, and less ice means a stronger drink, not a weaker one. Pearls are the chewy black tapioca balls at the bottom of the cup. They are the bubbles in bubble tea. We cook them in small batches through the day so they stay soft.
Safest first order: a Classic Pearl Milk Tea at 50% sugar. Best-looking first order for a photo: a Taro Pearl Milk Tea, which comes out lavender.
And since the deal is buy one get one, September 19 is the cheapest day to try something you have never had. Order the drink you always get, then use the half-price slot on something new.
Cafe
Milk tea is the backbone of the shop and where most Georgetown bubble tea orders land. Classic Pearl Milk Tea is the starting point. Honey Pearl Milk Tea swaps in honey for a rounder finish. Hokkaido Pearl Milk Tea leans caramel. Thai Pearl Milk Tea is bold and a little spiced. Taro Pearl Milk Tea is the purple one. Coconut Pearl Milk Tea is creamy without being heavy. Mango Green Milk Tea puts fruit and cream in the same cup. Golden Retriever is the loaded one, with four toppings riding along.
If you would rather skip the milk, our Fresh Brew side keeps it plain: Classic Tea and Honey Tea, brewed fresh through the day. Sharetea has been doing this for about thirty years, and the leaves and toppings still come from Taiwan.
Coffee shop
Georgetown has good coffee and we are not trying to replace anyone's morning cup. What we do is the crossover. Coffee Creama layers coffee and milk foam in the glass. Coffee Milk Tea w/ Coffee Jelly gives you a tea base with little cubes of coffee jelly you chew as you drink. Coffee w/ Ice Cream is blended cold with a scoop on top and lands closer to dessert than to a latte.
Any of the three is a good half-price pick if your first bubble tea was something sweet and fruity.
Dessert shop
This is the ice-blended row, where the bubble tea menu turns into something you eat with a spoon. Oreo w/ Pearl is the top seller. Taro w/ Pudding pairs the purple root with soft egg pudding. Thai Tea w/ Pearl blends the spiced tea into a slush. Peach Tea w/ Lychee Jelly stays light and fruit-forward. Lava Flow is the showpiece, with red fruit running down the inside of the cup.
Halo Halo deserves its own line. It is the Filipino-inspired mix of jellies, beans, and milk, and we serve it two ways: Halo Halo as a drink, or Halo Halo Ice Blended when you want it thick.
Ice cream shop
Three drinks come with real ice cream on top, and they are the ones kids point at through the glass. Coffee w/ Ice Cream is the grown-up pick. Mango w/ Ice Cream is the sweetest. Strawberry w/ Lychee Jelly & Ice Cream is the one that sells out fastest on warm Saturdays, and mid-September in Georgetown still counts as warm.
These are a strong buy one get one pairing. One person gets a milk tea, the other gets ice cream on top, and you trade sips.
Juice shop
Not everyone wants a creamy drink. Our fruity list is the lighter half of the bubble tea menu. Mango Green Tea is the everyday order. Passion Chess is tart and bright. Berry Lychee Burst mixes berry with floral lychee. Peach Tea w/ Honey Jelly is soft and easy. Mango & Passion Fruit Tea brings both fruits together. Honey Lemonade is what we hand people walking over from San Gabriel Park or the Blue Hole.
Soft drinks shop
If caffeine is off the table, this whole section is open. Tiger Boba is brown sugar and milk with no tea at all, and the syrup stripes down the cup are why people photograph it before drinking it. Strawberry Coconut is our gentlest drink and a good first boba for a kid. Wintermelon Lemonade is sweet and tangy. Wintermelon Lemonade Ice Blended is the frozen version. Wintermelon w/ Fresh Milk is mellow and almost caramel-like.
Read more about Tiger Boba or browse our top 10 drinks if you want the longer story on either.
New Matcha Series
Our newest lineup is matcha and it has been moving fast. Matcha Pearl Milk Tea is matcha and milk with pearls. Matcha Fresh Milk drops the tea base for straight fresh milk, so the matcha comes through cleaner. Strawberry Matcha Fresh Milk gives you pink and green layers. Mango Matcha Fresh Milk is the sweeter cousin.
For a day built around old windbreakers and film cameras, the strawberry matcha in a clear cup is the shot people keep posting.
