Argentina vs. Spain: What's Actually Happening on July 19

Here's the short version for anybody who hasn't been following.

Spain beat France 2-0 in the semifinal. Argentina came back from a goal down to beat England 2-1 in Atlanta. That sets up a final nobody saw coming back in June: the reigning European champions against the reigning world champions. It's the first World Cup final ever played between two teams who both hold their continental title at the same time.

Messi is going for a second straight World Cup. Spain's young squad wants their second star. It's the kind of game people talk about for years.

Kickoff is 2:00 PM Central time (3:00 PM Eastern) at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Doors are open all day at our store, but if you want a good seat, get here by 1:30.

We've been serving bubble tea in Georgetown, Texas long enough to know a few things about this town.

We know the Square gets packed on Saturday mornings and everybody's looking for something cold by 11 AM. We know families come in after games at Georgetown High School. We know Sun City folks come in on weekday afternoons when it's quiet, and half of them order the wintermelon.

We also know that Georgetown has more soccer fans than people think. Drive past San Gabriel Park on a Saturday and count the goals set up. Talk to anyone at Wolf Ranch on a match day. This town watches soccer.

So when the World Cup final lands on a Sunday in July, in the middle of a Texas heat wave, it made sense to put the game on and drop our prices.

Here's what you can order.

Milky Series

This is where most people start, and honestly it's where most people stay. Milk tea with pearls is the drink that made bubble tea famous.

Our Milky Series includes Classic Pearl Milk Tea, Honey Pearl Milk Tea, Hokkaido Pearl Milk Tea, Thai Pearl Milk Tea, Taro Pearl Milk Tea, Coconut Pearl Milk Tea, and Mango Green Milk Tea. Coffee drinkers usually go for the Coffee Creama or the Coffee Milk Tea w/ Coffee Jelly. And then there's the Golden Retriever, which people order because of the name and come back for because it's good.

If it's your first time, get the Classic Pearl Milk Tea at 50% sugar with regular ice. That's the honest recommendation. Full sugar is a lot if you're not used to it.

Ice-Blended

This is the July category. When it's 98 degrees and you're watching a soccer game, you want something you can eat with a spoon.

Try the Oreo w/ Pearl, Taro w/ Pudding, Thai Tea w/ Pearl, Coffee w/ Ice Cream, Mango w/ Ice Cream, or the Strawberry w/ Lychee Jelly & Ice Cream. The Peach Tea w/ Lychee Jelly is lighter if you don't want something heavy. And the Lava Flow is the one people take pictures of.

Fair warning: ice-blended drinks take a minute longer to make. If we're busy at halftime, order before the whistle.

New Matcha Series

Matcha is having a moment, and we leaned into it. This series is new and it's already moving fast.

We've got Matcha Pearl Milk Tea, Matcha Fresh Milk, Strawberry Matcha Fresh Milk, and Mango Matcha Fresh Milk.

If you've only had matcha from a coffee chain, try ours. Real matcha tastes green and a little grassy, not like sugar with green food coloring. The Strawberry Matcha Fresh Milk is the easiest one to start with because the fruit softens the edge.

Fruity Beverage

Some people don't want anything creamy in July. Fair enough.

Our fruity drinks are Mango Green Tea, Passion Chess, Berry Lychee Burst, Peach Tea w/ Honey Jelly, Mango & Passion Fruit Tea, and Honey Lemonade.

These are the ones we sell most on hot days. Light, cold, and they don't sit heavy while you're yelling at a TV.

Non-Caffeinated

Bringing kids to the watch party? Or you just don't want to be up at midnight? We have real options, not an afterthought.

Order the Tiger Boba, Strawberry Coconut, Halo Halo, Halo Halo Ice Blended, Wintermelon Lemonade, Wintermelon Lemonade Ice Blended, or Wintermelon w/ Fresh Milk.

Wintermelon is the quiet favorite in Georgetown. It tastes a little like honeydew and caramel and it's the drink we recommend to anyone who says they don't like tea. The Tiger Boba is what most kids point at, because of the brown sugar stripes down the cup.

Fresh Brew

Sometimes you just want tea.

Classic Tea and Honey Tea, brewed fresh, no milk, no toppings unless you want them. Order it unsweetened if you want to actually taste the tea leaves. A lot of our regulars from Berry Creek do exactly that.

Cafe, Coffee Shop, and Dessert Shop All in One Spot

People find us searching for a bubble tea store, but we work as a cafe for a lot of Georgetown folks. Sit down, use the wifi, meet somebody for 45 minutes without ordering a whole meal. Southwestern students study here. Realtors meet clients here. It's that kind of room.

We also work as a coffee shop. The Coffee Creama, the Coffee Milk Tea w/ Coffee Jelly, and the Coffee w/ Ice Cream cover you if you need caffeine but you're tired of the same drive-thru on Williams Drive.

As a dessert shop, our ice-blended menu does the job. The Oreo w/ Pearl and the Taro w/ Pudding are dessert, full stop. Nobody's pretending otherwise.

We're the closest thing to an ice cream shop many people find on this side of town, because the Coffee w/ Ice Cream, Mango w/ Ice Cream, and Strawberry w/ Lychee Jelly & Ice Cream all come with real ice cream blended in.

A Few Tips for Watch Party Day

We've done busy Sundays before. Here's what helps.

Come early if you want a seat. The game starts at 2:00 PM Central. We'd get here by 1:30.

Order before halftime. Everybody has the same idea at the same time, and the line at halftime is going to be long. Order your second drink during the first half if you know you'll want one.

Bring the kids. It's a soccer game in a bubble tea shop, not a bar. Kids are welcome and the non-caffeinated menu is real.

Order for the group. If you're bringing six people, one person ordering all six drinks is faster than six people in line. And 15% off six drinks adds up.

Come Watch the Final With Us

Georgetown has plenty of places to catch a game. Not many of them will hand you a Lava Flow while Messi lines up a free kick.
